Flower Coordinate Exploit Plausibility

So, the article has this to say about the ChromeCrusher's second coordinate exploit in 2016: "The 2nd exploit is a bit more unknown in terms of how it's used. All that is known is that the exploit uses flowers (according to ChromeCrusher although this could be a joke or false information)."

Discord user Andrew_555 was able to use the Minecraft@Home techniques, refined by a few of his own improvements, to crack the "Skull on Fire painting world seed and coordinates" in 2.5 hours using a single 1660 Ti graphics card: https://youtu.be/WCEu4DmB174?t=463

Obviously, 1660 Ti graphics cards didn't exist in 2016, but that's just a matter of power and time, and we have no idea how many graphics cards and/or how much time ChromeCrusher committed to his project. Most importantly, it proves the idea of finding coordinates by flowers is definitely doable. If ChromeCrusher discovered similar techniques to Andrew_555 independently (and just didn't tell anyone), it's a plausible that what he said is true, not a joke or a lie.

ChromeCrusher would have one advantage on his side that the Minecraft@Home team did not: the world seed. For the painting, Minecraft@Home needed to calculate BOTH the seed AND the coordinates. 2B2T's world seed is publicly-known, so ChromeCrusher wouldn't need to calculate that, which would vastly speed up his calculations in finding coordinates.

Given this information, I'm thinking that this section could be updated with more information on how coordinates could be obtained by flower patterns could be added. What do y'all think? AdmiralMemo (talk) 12:39, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
