2b2tWiki:Rebuilds and Continuations
Rebuilds and Continuations is an editing guideline meant to demonstrate what rebuilds or continuations of bases are, and how to explain how they are to be recorded on the wiki. Rebuilds are differentiated from continuations by virtue of a base being griefed and abandoned at some point in between.
A rebuild of a base is defined as a revival of a base following its grief and abandonment. A rebuild can be performed by either the bases former members, an entirely new group of people, or a mix of the two. The presence of original base members in a rebuild alongside players who were not should be thought of as grounds for Membership by ratification. Participants in a rebuild should not be considered members of the original base, as that ended with the original base's grief. Rebuilds are to be considered new bases, although small-scale rebuilds can still be placed on the original base page; it is important that it be in a separate section that contains the word 'Rebuild' in its title. For large-scale rebuilds (e.g The Autumn Drain), they should be placed on their own page entirely, with a short section mentioning the rebuild and linking to its page on the corresponding original base's page. The scale of rebuilds described above deals with the size or the rebuild *relative to the original base.*
A continuation of a base is when the base's original members abandon a base, with the base later being inhabited by a new group comprised entirely of players who were not part of the original base group (e.g I_tri reviving SC0EY's base Poppy Town). A continuation is considered to be a different base at the same location as the original, but it should still be covered on the same page as the original base. Members of a continuation may attain Membership by ratification should original base members return and accept them into the original base group, in which case the newcomers are to be considered members of the original base and the 'new base' retroactively becomes part of the 'old base'. If this does not occur, however, the Base Template for the page must be filled in an abnormal manner, with each group that inhabited the place separated into sections labeled 'Iteration 1, Iteration 2, etc' (see Poppy Town for a proper visual representation of this).
